This is exciting stuff. Google has thrown down the gauntlet to challenge market-leading Microsoft in its home turf, the desktop operating system, with the new Google Chrome Linux operating system. Since at least 1995, Microsoft has owned the desktop computer market, hurting consumers and crushing allies in the process, according to several court cases. Verizon Wireless, one of the two main North American wireless carriers, has launched a major ad campaign for the Linux-powered Droid phone, a first for North America. The campaign includes two hi-production value ads: one simulating figher planes launching probes announcing the launch; and another taking a clever swipe at the proprietary Apple iPhone.
